WINGs is aligning its health initiative with that of the World Health Organization, Center for Disease Control and other relevant stakeholders in the sector to improve the lives of people with these discrepancies, particularly women and children. A combination of awareness campaigns, workshops, community engagement activities, financial and in-kind support will serve as a catalyst to this end.
Women Empowerment
WINGs intends to forge partnerships with the likes of Kola Digital, a female run fintech company that offers a variety of services the women and youth can capitalize on. By providing financially literacy sessions; transitioning to digital finance; microloans for business steps will be to gradually assist those less fortunate to attain economic growth to establish a more financially stable lifestyle. WINGs will also be engaged in capacity building to develop skillset such as developing a proper CV or resume, helping applicants to prepare of interviews and participating in job fairs. With a concerted effort to increase financial inclusion, we can all play a part in elevating the standard of living for all people regardless of age, gender, or sociological background.
Scholarships For Women and Girls
To combat educational shortfall for women and girls, WINGs issues academic scholarships with an emphasis on increasing female education. It is often said that when you educate a girl, educate a nation. We at WINGs believe that wholeheartedly. That’s why every student we select for our scholarship will be supported from grade school until completion of ungraduated studies. WINGs also supplies laptops so that recipients can become computer literate, diversifying their skillet. Our aim is to effect change in as many facets of society buy equipping today’s girls and women in becoming tomorrow’s leaders.
Clean Water, Good Sanitation and Hygiene
Clean water, sanitation, and poor hygienic practices continue to be a challenge throughout Liberia and other parts of the world. Not only do these issues have serious health implications but also hinder commerce. These factors also contribute to diseases such as malaria, typhoid, diarrhea, cholera, malnutrition, and child mortality.
Feeding Hungry Women and Children
WINGs is making a huge push to get more women farmers the necessary resources they need to operate functional cooperatives and transition into mechanized farming. Subsistent methods are not profitable due to the intense physical labor conditions, poor farm-to-market access, and relatively little to no financial backing. Changing this trend will not be easy but it’s a task that WINGs and its partners have made a commitment to champion.
Electrifying Communities
WINGs is empowering women of various communities to understand electricity is a necessity and not a luxury. Electricity improves everyone’s quality of life. When electricity is provided little girls will not eat or do homework in the dark; when electricity is provided communities are safer; when electricity is provided commerce increases. WINGs will continue to Speak Up and Step Out until every aspect of our society receives affordable and reliable electricity.
Stopping and Preventing Abuse
A member of “The Brothers of WINGs” once said that “Drug Addiction is NOT a character flaw, a personality disorder, or a moral failing.” However, Drug abuse has become a public health problem around the world, particularly in South America and Africa.
